Instant Pot Haleem
Haleem is a simple dish made with meat, wheat, lentils and spices. This one pot meal is amazingly delicious and comforting.
Ingredients
- ¼ cup butter
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 lb boneless veal
- 4 cups water
- 1 cup Haleem mix
- 1 Tbsp ginger paste
- 1 Tbsp garlic paste
- Salt to taste
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Haleem masala
- 1 potato, cut into chunks (optional)
- 1 green chili chopped (optional for spice)
- Juice of 1 lemon
- ½ cup chopped cilantro
- ½ cup crisp fried onions
Instructions
1. Turn on the instant pot and select the Sauté mode on low. When hot, add the butter and olive oil.
2. Add sliced onions and sauté until light brown, about 5 to 10 minutes.
3. Add the boneless veal, water, Haleem mix, ginger, garlic, salt, cumin, coriander, turmeric, Haleem masala, potatoes and chopped green chili if using. Mix well.
4. Cover the instant pot, select the Pressure Cooker mode on high, and set timer for 35 minutes.
5. Let the pressure release naturally, or you can release the pressure after 10 minutes.
6. Open the pot, remove the potatoes and set aside.
7. Using an immersion blender, blend the Haleem until it is thick and smooth as per your desired consistency.
8. Add the potatoes and lemon juice and mix well.
9. Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with cilantro and crisp friend onions.
10. Enjoy on its own or with hot naan.
